Important information for all members who use a
GLOBAL PAYMENT™ Mastercard® card. 

 

Your GLOBAL PAYMENT Mastercard card will no longer work effective May 29, 2019.

Your credit union account will not change and will continue to be accessible using your debit card and online banking.

We appreciate that this change is likely unexpected, and we will do everything we can to support you through the process. We’ve captured some of the top Frequently Asked Questions below and would be happy to connect with you to answer any additional questions you may have. 

When will my GLOBAL PAYMENT Mastercard card stop working?

The card will no longer work as of May 29, 2019.  Full access to your credit union account and funds will remain accessible through debit, in branch and online.

How will I access my credit union account after May 29, 2019?

Your credit union account will continue to work the same as it does today.  You can access your funds in branch, online or through an ATM using your credit union debit card.

What if I don’t have/or can’t find my debit card?

We can set up a new debit card instantly in branch. Please contact or visit your nearest branch to get started.

What about my existing pre-authorized payments on my GLOBAL PAYMENT Mastercard?

If you have pre-authorized payments set up on your GLOBAL PAYMENT Mastercard  you will need to contact the business debiting your account directly to make alternative payment arrangements before May 29, 2019.

You can either switch the payments to a credit card, or set up pre-authorized payments directly from your credit union account.

If you have pre-authorized payments set up directly to your credit union account, no action is required.

Why is this happening?

We are always reviewing our product offerings to ensure we are providing our members with the best products and services. Last year, we selected a new cooperative partner for our credit card product line with the intent to develop a successor to the GLOBAL PAYMENT Mastercard card program.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a replacement  GLOBAL PAYMENT™ Mastercard® program  with our new partner organization.

With that in mind, we will continue to review new solutions to improve our payment offerings as they become available.

If I earn CHOICE REWARDS® points on my GLOBAL PAYMENT  Mastercard card, will I continue to earn points on purchases until May 29, 2019?

Yes, you will continue to earn and accumulate CHOICE REWARDS points on eligible purchases using your existing GLOBAL PAYMENT  Mastercard product until May 29, 2019. On this date you will stop earning points.

What happens to my CHOICE REWARDS® points after May 29, 2019?

You will have until September 30, 2019 to redeem any accumulated CHOICE REWARDS points at choicerewards.ca. Take this opportunity to redeem your current CHOICE REWARDS points for any upcoming flights, hotels, car rentals, or merchandise. You can see the complete online catalogue at choicerewards.ca.

After September 30, 2019, any unused points will no longer be available for redemption through the CHOICE REWARDS program. Instead, you can redeem your unused points for cash directly from your credit union. Details on that process will be updated to this web page in September 2019.  

Is the credit union getting a new points program?

With the recent launch of our new credit cards, we introduced the FlexRewards program. The FlexRewards program allows credit card holders to collect points for everyday purchases. You can redeem the points on the FlexRewards’ website for merchandise, travel, events, gift cards, or cash back.

I use my GLOBAL PAYMENT  Mastercard card to pay for online purchases, book trips, rent cars, etc.  What will I use now?

Depending on your specific need, we have other products that may work for you.

  • Purchasing Online?  Interac® Online allows you to pay for online purchases directly from your credit union account.  To confirm which online vendors accept Interac® Online and to get the full details of this product, visit our product page.

What about my travel medical insurance on my Gold GLOBAL PAYMENT Mastercardcard?

If you have travel insurance on your card and are relying on it for an upcoming trip, please be advised that effective May 29, 2019, the Inclusive Travel Medical Insurance coverage provided by TD Life Insurance Company will be terminated. If you have any questions about your Inclusive Travel Medical Insurance coverage, please call Allianz Global Assistance at 1-866-520-8827 Monday to Saturday, 8:00 am to 9:00 pm (Eastern Time). If you are travelling and require Emergency Medical Care / Treatment before May 29, 2019, please call Allianz Global Assistance at 1-519-742-9356 available collect 24/7. Emergency Medical Care / Treatment on or after May 29, 2019 will not be covered. If your trip extends beyond this date, please consider arranging for appropriate alternate coverage.

I enjoyed the peace of mind of included benefits such as travel insurance, what will I do now?

We are pleased to offer a wide selection of credit cards that offer not only travel insurance, but emergency health care coverage and mobile device insurance as well.
